Ateneo Bonfire 2012 photodiary

I think I started my sem break the right way—— I went to the bonfire! Just so you know, the bonfire is this huge party done by the Ateneo community to celebrate the victories of the different sports teams (particularly the men’s basketball team) in the UAAP. This year’s bonfire was similar to last year’s, with bands and acts like Itchyworms, Sponge Cola, Rico Blanco and Chicosci performing. Anyway, here are some pictures from the bonfire (and what happened before)!

Finally reunited with Chandra and David after quite some time! The last time we actually hung out was during the first day of class, and we finally had the chance to hang out again after so long! The reunion was brief though, since David had to go somewhere.

After hanging out with David at Chicken Charlie, I spent the first few hours of the bonfire with Chandra and Gio!

The bonfire started with a program, featuring the winning teams of the current UAAP season. The program was hosted by Gretchen Ho, Karylle, Gabe Mercado, Jai Reyes and Mel Garrido, all prominent Ateneo alumni. Prior to the program, three bands from the Ateneo Musicians’ Pool performed: Runmanila, Imelda and Yammi (correct me if the spelling is wrong)!

This year, the Ateneo de Manila High School swim team won their eighth straight title in the UAAP! It’s a rare, and pretty awesome accomplishment!

The men’s swimming team won their first UAAP title in swimming!

The men’s basketball team! The graduating players came out last, carrying the basketball trophies that the team won from 2008 until this year!

After the members of the men’s basketball team were called out, this video was played. I now finally know why we were asked to wear shades during the bonfire last night. Teehee. Not gonna lie, but the Blue Eagles got some mad dancing skills.

There was also a tribute to Norman Black, the head coach of the Ateneo Blue Eagles, who just recently stepped down to become the head coach of a team in the PBA.

After the program, Sponge Cola started performing at the bonfire! They performed some of their most popular songs like, “Puso” and “Bitiw!” And oh, just a random tidbit: I’ve spotted Yael Yuzon in four Ateneo events in the span of two years! (OrSem, Bonfire 2011, hAMPy birthday, and this year’s bonfire)

The best part of the night: I had my picture taken with Nico Salva and Kiefer Ravena! They’re pretty nice guys!

I think I convinced Greg Slaughter to smile for the camera? Hihi.

Anyway, last night was pretty awesome! Never the Strangers and Rico Blanco had really cool performances, and it was also awesome to see Kiefer dance! Can’t wait for next year!
